The Mattress Industry Then VS Now
Back then, the mattress industry looked a little different. Pillow tops were yet to be invented, memory foam was unheard of, mattresses were two-sided, and pocket springs didn’t even exist! As the industry evolved, new technology emerged, and the business continued to grow.
Our Own Humble Beginnings
Fast forward to the 2010s. I was working at a mattress factory on the Gold Coast but eventually pursued studies in horticulture and travelled the world. That’s where I met Hannah!
In 2020, we moved to Brisbane and started selling my parents’ mattresses from a garage, just as a side hustle to cover the rent. And just like that, our own mattress business was born!
Ditching the Sales Gimmicks, Keeping It Real
We fell in love with creating our own business, the satisfaction of selling a time-tested product, and helping people get a great night’s sleep. Frustrated by fake and pushy sales tactics, we skipped the sales training and focused on transparency, offering high-quality mattresses at the right price.
One year later, we made the leap to the Sunshine Coast!
Building a Business, One Mattress at a Time
We started by testing the market from a storage shed in Kawana, then moved to a small warehouse in Caloundra West. That’s when Sunshine Coast Mattress Warehouse was officially born!
The support from the community was incredible, and we became fully committed to providing the best service and mattresses on the coast. We soon moved into a larger warehouse in Baringa and, in March 2022, opened our brand-new showroom, creating a better experience for our customers.
